David Tenney enters his first season as Sports Science & Performance Manager after spending the previous five seasons as fitness coach. He is one of Major League Soccer’s most respected and progressive minds in sports science.
Tenney implemented the Catapult GPS pro- gram which measures player movement in games and practices, as well as the Omegawave technology that tests player’s heart rate variability and state of readiness before and after participation.
Prior to joining Sounders FC, Tenney served as both fitness and goalkeeper coach in Kansas City in 2007 and 2008, helping the Wizards reach the post- season both years. Kansas City reached the Conference Finals in 2007. He also holds an ‘A’ license from the Czech Republic F.A. and NSCAA 'Premier' Diploma.
Prior to MLS, Tenney held the same dual role with the George Mason University men’s and women’s teams for two seasons. In 2006, Mason advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 12 years.
While at George Mason, Tenney also served as director of coaching for the Washington Freedom youth teams from 2004-06 and as Maryland’s girls director of ODP, winning two ODP National Championships (2005 and 2006). Tenney’s playing career features both collegiate and indoor profes- sional honors. At Virginia Tech (1989-91), he served as team captain the final two seasons. As the Hokies’ goalkeeper, he was voted Metro Conference Defensive MVP in 1989.
His professional career began overseas with Germany’s SV Linx (1992-93) and FC Rastatt (1993-94). He returned home to play for the Washington Warthogs of the Continental Indoor Soccer League from 1994-97 and held franchise records for saves, wins and minutes played for goal- keepers. He was with the Baltimore Blast of the NPSL from 1998-2000 and also starred for the Baton Rouge Bombers, earning second team All-EISL in 1998. Tenney is married to Allison, who is an assistant coach of the Seattle University women’s soccer team. They have two daughters, Quinn, and Cameron. He earned a master’s degree in Exercise Science-Performance Enhancement from California University of Pennsylvania, and a bachelor's in Coaching Science from George Mason University.

Brijesh Patel is the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Quinnipiac University. Patel primarily works with the men’s and women’s basketball and ice hockey teams at Quinnipiac, but also oversees the strength and conditioning development for all 21 varsity sports at Quinnipiac. Patel previously held the title of Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusets and was a Graduate Assistant at the University of Conneticut. Patel graduated with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology in 2002 and a master's degree in sport management in 2004 from the University of Connecticut. He has written and spoken for numerous industry publications and seminars. Patel holds certifications from the NSCA, USA Weightlifting, and the Red Cross and is also SPIN certified. Patel is also the founder and partner of SB Coaches College.

Jonathan Feinman is the Executive Director and Founder of Inner City Weightlifting. InnerCity Weightlifting is a non-profit organization that works to reduce violence and promote professional, personal and academic achievement among urban youth. They work with young people at the highest-risk for violence in order to reduce youth violence by getting them off the streets and into the gym, where they are empowered with the confidence and support needed to say no to violence and yes to opportunity. Students want to come to InnerCity Weightlifting. Once there, this interest evolves towards more positive and complex goals such as finishing school, getting a job, eventually leaving a gang. They see peers whom they respect making these choices, and they see adults whom they respect supporting these choices. The path to change suddenly comes into focus. Students most committed are eligible for an in-house career track in personal training and job opportunities running the InnerCity Weightlifting training locations, a career path that deepens them in a support system that has helped guide them through the most difficult decision points.

Doug Bull is in his 7th season as Deer Park's District Strength and Conditioning Coordinator. He brings with him over 18 years of strength and conditioning experience ranging from High School to Division I athletics. Including coaching stops at Northern State, Fort Hays State, Illinois State, and The United States Naval Academy.
During his eight years as a collegiate strength and conditioning coach, he was a part of one National Championship and four trips to the Elite 8 at the Division II level, and a one Division I Conference Championship all in Basketball. As well as having the opportunity to work with dozens of conference champions from 11 different sports, and 40 future professional athletes.
He left the college coaching ranks to come to Texas where he would have opportunity to help a greater number of young people reach their athletic goals. Since arriving at Deer Park he has helped to change the culture of the District in regards to strength and conditioning, where they are currently working with over 750 high school athletes. He started a Summer Training Program for the Jr. High athletes and has revamped the Jr. High training programs to help ensure the development of proper movement patterns by all of our Deer Park athletes which will lead to the prevention of injuries and an increase in athletic success.
He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology and a Master's Degree in Exercise Science. He is certified as a specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Scott Bennett is currently the Head Strength Coach at Radford University. Prior to that he has been the Head Strength Coach at Wyoming, Southern Miss, and Marshall. He has had additional stops at with Clemson, Virginia Tech, and James Madison. A 1989 graduate of the University of Mississippi with a B.S. in Health and Physical Education, Bennett obtained his M.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling from Clemson University four years later. While in the Palmetto State, he served as the weightlifting instructor for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and as a graduate assistant of strength and conditioning for the Tigers, before arriving in Blacksburg.
In his career, Bennett has coached a multitude of collegiate athletes who have gone forward to find careers in the professional ranks (over 30 in the NFL), as well as conference champions, national champions, world record holders, and Olympians.
As a professional, he has risen to the top of the strength and conditioning field. Bennett was recently awarded the honor of being part of the NSCA’s (National Strength and Conditioning Association) Coaches Registry at the Emeritus level—the highest level awarded in the field.
Perhaps the honor standing out the most in his impressive list of accolades is his accreditation as a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach with the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCCa) since 2006. At the time, there were only 62 certified at this level in the world. Today, there are roughly 100 practicing at the Master’s level.
This honor paved the way for Bennett’s election to the CSCCa Board of Directors, a position he served for two terms. His involvement with the association allowed for him to be chosen as the first strength coach to be invited as an ex officio member of the NCAA Committee for Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports—a position he has held the last three years.
In addition to his numerous certifications in the strength and conditioning field, Bennett was voted by the American Football Quarterly as the College Division Strength Coach of the Year in 1996 and was nominated for the NSCA Strength Coach of the Year in 2002.

Dr. Michael Yessis received his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California and his B.S. and M.S. from City University of New York. He is president of Sports Training, Inc., a diverse sports and fitness company. Dr. Yessis is also Professor Emeritus at California State University, Fullerton, where he was a multi-sports specialist in biomechanics (technique analysis) and sports conditioning and training.
Dr. Yessis has served as training and technique consultant to several Olympic and professional sports teams, including the L.A. Rams and L.A. Raiders football clubs, Natadore Diving Team, and the U.S. Men’s Volleyball Team. He has also trained hundreds of athletes in different sports and developed unique specialized training programs for strength and speed-strength
Dr. Yessis is considered this country’s foremost expert on sports technique. He has written 16 books in the sports and fitness field including Kinesiology of Exercise, Build A Better Athlete, and Sports: Is It All B.S.? He has also written more than 2,000 articles on fitness and sports training.

After playing football and graduating from the University of California, Berkeley in 1989, Robert began his career in strength and conditioning by volunteering at his former Community College, Glendale College, while completing his graduate studies in Kinesiology.
During his 5 years at Glendale College, Robert helped over 100 athletes gain Division I football scholarships. After spending the next 4 years as a High School head Football Coach and Strength & Conditioning Coach at John Burroughs High School, Robert took the job as Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, California in 1998. This was the very first full-time Community College Strength and Conditioning position ever in the State of California. During his tenure at College of the Canyons, Robert has helped the school's athletic programs win over 50 conference championships, including a 2004 Football National Championship. In addition, Robert has helped over 200 athletes gain Division I scholarships, including 8 football athletes who went on to play in the NFL and none of whom were recruited or awarded scholarships out of high school. 2006 marked a major highlight in Robert's career was being named the NSCA Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Professional of the Year as voted on by his peers. This is the only time a Community College Strength And Conditioning Coach has ever won this award. Community College athletics is dear to Robert as he remains at College of the Canyons in spite of numerous opportunities over the years to move to the 4-year and professional levels. The skill level of his athletes, the support from his sport coaches, and an environment for helping and teaching student-athletes-both in the sporting arena and in life-are the main reasons for his love of coaching at this level.

Considered by many in college football to be one of the nation's premier strength and conditioning coaches. Tommy Moffitt enters his 13th season at LSU with previous stops at Miami, Tennessee, and John Curtis High School. While at John Curtis he was named National High School Strength Coach of the Year. He has also received the Collegiate Football Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year by the Professional Football Strength and Conditioning Coaches Society in 2000, and College Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year by America Football in 2003Monthly. Probably the most telling of Coach Moffitt is he has been part of national championship football teams at LSU (twice), Miami and Tennessee.

Steve Maxwell has 35+ years of experience in Fitness training and coaching. Named one of the top 100 trainers in the US by Men's Journal. Josh Henkin is a certified strength and conditioning specialist with twenty years of experience in the fitness and sports performance industry. He began his sporting career in basketball and was fortunate enough to walk-on to the Arizona State men's basketball team. A severe low back injury would quickly end his pursuit of playing Division I athletics, but gave him the motivation to search for "better ways" to train. IFAST was twice named one of Men’s Health magazines Top 10 Gyms in America, as well as a Fitness Award Winner for Women’s Health magazine. Mike received his Masters degree in Sports Biomechanics at Ball State University. While in Grad school Mike worked in the weight room primarily with the football, volleyball and soccer teams, while counseling and coaching individual athletes from all of Ball State's 26 varsity sports. Finally, Mike is an accomplished athlete and coach in the sport of powerlifting, having totaled 1400 pounds in the 198 pound weight class.

Coach Kelly Starrett founded one of the first fifty CrossFit Affiliates, San Francisco CrossFit with his wife and fellow athlete Juliet. Kelly received his Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2007 from Samuel Merritt College in Oakland, California. World-Class extreme skiers and X-Games medalists, dancers, military personnel, and competitive age-division athletes from all sports have seen effective rehabilitative results from Kelly's progressive blend of manual therapy and strength training. Kelly's background as an athlete and coach includes paddling whitewater slalom canoe on the US Canoe and Kayak Teams, and leading the Men's Whitewater Rafting Team to two national titles and competition in two World Championships. In his free time Kelly enjoys spending time with his two daughters, Georgia and Caroline, surfing, paddling, Olympic lifting, and dancing.

He employs a holistic and integrated philosophy in his comprehensive training plan that utilizes strength training, explosive development, high intensity interval training and performance-based nutrition. Louie Simmons is the owner of Westside Barbell and a living strength training legend! He is one of a very select group of powerlifters who have totaled ELITE in 5 different weight classes and Louie is one of only a couple of men over 50 years of age to have squatted 920 lbs or more, the first to bench both 500 and 600 lbs, and the only to have totaled 2100 lbs! (over the age of 50)
Louie has worked with twenty-five World and National Champion powerlifters, twenty-seven lifters who have totaled over 2000 pounds, and a World Record holder in the 400-meter dash. Coach Shreck is the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach and Fitness Facilities Coordinator at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. Jerry is also the Head Strength Coach for Bucknell’s club power lifting team. He has coached the Men’s Basketball team to several Patriot League Championships and a first-ever advance to the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament in 2005 and then repeated this significant feat again in 2006. He has also been featured in Men’s Health Magazine as the second best men’s basketball Cardio Challenges in the country. Coach Shreck is regularly featured in Real Solution’s Magazine with Expert Training Tips and Injury Prevention Articles. Jerry contributes to many strength and fitness websites and is a questions & answer expert of several professional fitness forums. Nick Winkelman joined Athletes' Performance in spring 2007. While studying Exercise Sports Science at Oregon State University (OSU), Nick had the opportunity to assist and implement the strength and conditioning program for the 2006 College World Series Champions. Prior to working with the OSU baseball team, Nick was the Strength and Conditioning coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates Rookie League team in Bradenton, Florida.
Throughout his college career, he taught the OSU personal trainer certification course, the SRPT (Safe Return Personal Trainer) course for the post-injury and post-rehabilitation population, and was the Lead Performance Trainer for the personal training department. Nick commenced his senior year with the completion of his self-initiated thesis on the bilateral deficit and the effects on strength training, which he later presented at the 2006 NSCA National Conference. Nick is in the process of pursuing a Masters in Strength and Conditioning.

Will Hitzelberger founded Spectrum Sports Performance in 2005, Hitzelberger began his coaching career in Tampa, FL with Jodie Johnson after finishing his collegiate soccer career at the University of Tampa, where he won the Division II National Championship in 2001 and graduated with a degree in Exercise Science and Sport Studies. Hitzelberger left Tampa, FL to take a position with the New York Mets, where he would spend the season with their Minor League affiliate, Brooklyn Cyclones.
As President of SSP, Hitzelberger oversees all business development which includes contracts with Rollins College, Trinity Preparatory School, Central Florida Kraze (PDL) and Central Florida Krush (W-League).

Donnell Boucher is the Assistant Athletic Director for Strength & Conditioning at The Citadel. Prior to coming to The Citadel, Boucher was the performance director at Competitive Athlete Training Zone in Auburn, Mass., where he trained athletes of all levels in performance enhancement. Before that assisted w/ performance training at his alma mater, Worcester State College. His strength and conditioning certifications include the CSCS from the NSCA, and the SCCC credential from the CSCCa, for which he is also an approved professional mentor. Boucher earned a bachelor's degree in health education from Worcester State where he was a four-year football letterman. Boucher completed his master's degree in Health, Exercise & Sport Science at The Citadel in 2010.

Tavis Piattoly, MS, RD, LDN is the Sports Dietitian for the New Orleans Saints, New Orleans Hornets, and St. Amant High School where he coordinates nutritional assessments, provides nutrition education, and develops individual meal plans. He has an extensive Sports Nutrition background working with high school athletes from all sports. He has also worked with High School Coaches, Athletic Trainers, and Strength and Conditioning Specialists with a direct focus of changing the nutrition habits of athletes in order to improve athletic performance.
He obtained a Masters of Science Degree in Kinesiology and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Louisiana State University. He is a registered Dietitian and Licensed Nutritionist by the State of Louisiana.
