Sandor (Sean) Manuel was born in 1973 in Berkeley California to Sicilian and African American parents, Francine and the late Samuel Manuel. His father played center position for the football team at Alcorn State in Mississippi and his mother attended the University of San Francisco and afterwards received a master’s degree in physical therapy from Columbia University in New York. Sandor was one of four boys and an identical twin. Played football at Laney Community College for 2 years, then received a scholarship to New Mexico State University along with his identical twin where they played together along with Head UNLV coach Tony Sanchez. Earned All-Conference honors and All-American honors at New Mexico State University. Drafted to the 49ers 7th round in 1996 played there till 1997, NFL Europe 1998, then picked up by Kansas City Chiefs from 1998-99. Spent one year in the XFL with San Francisco Demons 2001. Started Coaching at California HS, San Ramon CA in 2004 with Tony Sanchez. Coached there until 2009. Earned American Monthly National Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year 2008. Came to Gorman in 2010 as Strength and Conditioning Coach and quality control; earned American Football Monthly National Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year 2012. Currently the Offensive Line and Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Gaels.
