Following a six-year term as the sports nutritionist and strength and conditioning coach for Dayton's men's and women's basketball teams, Mike Bewley joined Georgia Tech's staff as strength and conditioning coach for men's basketball in June 2011.
Bewley's duties include the design and implementation of athletic performance programs, supervising team and individual training sessions, and testing strength, power and conditioning of athletes. He also works with Tech's men's tennis team.
Bewley also served as the strength and conditioning coach to the Flyers men's and women's golf programs. Prior to Dayton, Bewley served as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Georgia Southern from 2002-05. Bewley developed and implemented conditioning programs for basketball, baseball, soccer, and volleyball, and assisted with the Eagles' 11 other sporting programs.
Bewley graduated from Eastern Kentucky in 1998 with a degree in physical education. He then moved to the University of Nevada in Reno, where he was a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach and sports nutritionist. He earned his master's degree in education leadership from Nevada in 2002.
The native of Louisville, Ky., is certified as a strength and conditioning specialist and a sports performance nutritionist, as well as a USA Weighlifting Level I Olympic club coach.
Bewley and his wife, Lisa, an assistant athletic trainer at Kennesaw State, reside in Atlanta.
