Jake Beiting was hired as Astros strength and conditioning coach for the 2013 season. Prior to joining Houston, he had served as the Cleveland Indians minor league strength and conditioning coordinator for five seasons (2008-12).
As coordinator, Beiting worked with players at the Indians Spring Training complex in Goodyear, AZ, which included working with Major League players during the offseason.
He began his career in professional baseball as an intern working in the Cleveland Indians weight room in 2004-05, and later was named strength coach for the Gulf Coast League Indians minor league club in 2007.
Beiting earned a bachelor's degree in physical education from John Carroll University in 2006 and later his master's degree in exercise science from the University of South Florida in 2008.
He and his wife, Maggie, have two young sons, Maxwell and Charlie (born January 18, 2013).
