Kristin Shuman enters her first year as the Idaho State Athletics Director of Strength and Conditioning. Shuman is no stranger to Idaho State University as she has been involved with working with the strength and conditioning program since 2009.
Shuman was the graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach from 2009-2011 and from May 2011-October 2011 she served as the assistant strength and conditioning coach.
After receiving her master’s degree in athletic administration in 2011, Shuman remained in Pocatello as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, and has recently become, and remains, the Human Performance Lab Coordinator in the Sport Science and Physical Education department.
In August of 2012, Shuman was hired as the strength and conditioning coach for the Department of Law Enforcement at ISU and she continues to serve in that capacity. During this time, Shuman remained heavily involved in ISU Athletics as she volunteered her time as the strength and conditioning coach of the women’s soccer and softball programs. Shuman has led the Bengal softball program from 2012-15. The results of Shuman’s efforts in the weight room saw the Bengals win three straight Big Sky Conference regular season championships.
Shuman worked with the women’s soccer program from January 2014-June 2015. Shuman also oversaw the strength and conditioning of the women’s basketball program prior to winning the Big Sky title in 2011-12.
Prior to coming to Pocatello, Shuman served as a strength and conditioning coach at the University of Detroit Mercy for the 2008-2009 school year. Shuman graduated with her bachelor’s degree in sports medicine-exercise science in 2008 from Eastern Michigan. She is currently working on her Doctorate in Educational Leadership-Higher Education Administration, which will be completed by December 2015.
Shuman currently has many research projects in-progress, as well as research papers published related to strength and conditioning and sports medicine. Shuman and her husband Berrett reside in Southeast Idaho and currently have one son, Hudson, and a daughter due in October 2015.

Daniel McKim has lead an interesting life, never shying away from trying things. He tried the Scottish Highland Games and turned out being one of the best in recent history: two world titles, four national championships and two world records while he continues his career today. Training and humor are two of his passions, which has made him a large, funny man who is a sought after athlete, speaker and author. McKim resides in the Kansas City area with his wife, Natalie, and their five boys.

John Cissik is the president and owner of Human Performance Services, LLC (HPS), which helps athletics professionals solve their strength and conditioning needs. He coaches youth baseball, basketball, and Special Olympics sports and runs fitness classes for children with special needs. He has written 10 books and more than 70 articles on strength and speed training that have been featured in Muscle & Fitness, Iron Man, and track and field and coaching publications. He is also the author of Human Kinetics’ Speed for Sports Performance DVD. Cissik specializes in education, strength training for baseball, basketball, track and field, and speed and agility training. In addition to his role at HPS, he is the director of fitness and recreation at Texas Woman’s University. John is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a strength and conditioning specialist and personal trainer and by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a personal trainer and corrective exercise specialist. He has held level I and level II certifications from USA Track and Field and was certified with the former U.S. Weightlifting Federation.

Doug Smith has been the head strength and conditioning coach at Juniata since 1997. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Brumbaugh Strength and Fitness Centerand works with teams and individuals who have specifically designed workout sessions. Smith is certified with the NSCA and the National Academy of Sports Medicine and also has his certificate from the USA Weightlifting Federation of Coaching. Smith has organized and been the director of the Pennsylvania State Strength and Conditioning Clinic and has served as a spring training consultant to Major League Baseball's Texas Rangers. Doug recently won the National Strength and Conditioning Association's award for Strength Coach of the Year for 2015. He also runs one of the most reputable underground strength and conditioning clinics in the country.
